During the summer, MTV promoted a contest whose winner would get a Miley Cyrus-headlined concert for New Year's Eve. The winner of the contest is Alison Kaprielian, a senior at Beckman who has worked tirelessly in support of the Pink Ribbon Club, which is an organization dedicated to breast cancer awareness.
And while the concert will be open to those outside of the student body of Beckman, it is required that all attendees - even the boys - wear pink in honor of the Pink Ribbon Club.
In addition to the live concert, members of the Beckman dance team will be on stage to perform with Miley and some of the other acts that will be working the show. MTV awarded several free tickets to those described as "true fans of Miley Cyrus" through its various broadcast and media channels.
The show will be broadcast on MTV beginning at 8PM tonight. Without a doubt, this will be the best New Year's Eve of many young lifetimes and certainly a feel-good story for fans of Miley Cyrus to follow and hang on to. And while this is ultimately a commercial venture for all involved, you have to give credit to MTV for coming up with this kind of promotion. Not only will the concert be an amazing event for all in attendance, but the national broadcast will bring even more attention to the Pink Ribbon Club and increase awareness of breast cancer.
